ASHRAE Strategic Plan

ASHRAE’s strategic plan will help move the Society toward fulfilling its vision of a better future. The plan contains four strategic directions where ASHRAE will focus its efforts over the next several years.

They are as follows:

  1. ASHRAE will lead the advancement of sustainable building design and operations;
  2. ASHRAE will be a world-class provider of education and certification programs;
  3. ASHRAE will position itself as premier provider of HVAC&R expertise; and
  4. ASHRAE will be a global leader in the HVAC&R community.

ASHRAE Headquarters Renovation

ASHRAE Headquarters in Atlanta, GA will be renovated to become more sustainabile. ASHRAE is renovating its headquarters to showcase sustainability.

The renovation of the current headquarters will incorporate ASHRAE technology and demonstrate its strong commitment to sustainability.

ASHRAE headquarters renovation is another example of ASHRAE’s role as an engineering engine that drives sustainability.

Research Strategic Plan

Providing navigation for a sustainable future is the goal of ASHRAE’s research strategic plan.ASHRAE’s research strategic plan outlines ASHRAE’s research goals until 2010. It centers on sustainability, which is defined as “the concept of maximizing the effectiveness of resource use while minimizing the impact of that use on the environment.”

ASHRAE Game Plan

ASHRAE’s Greening ASHRAE Meetings and Expositions (GAME) is available to assist ASHRAE chapters, regions and the Society at large in reducing the total environmental impact of doing ASHRAE business.

The plan serves as a comprehensive guide to provide the chapters and Society with direction on how to conduct affairs in a more sustainable manner.

ASHRAE Position Statement

The ASHRAE Position Document on Building Sustainability was developed by the Board of Directors Subcommittee on Building Sustainability and was approved in 2002. Under the policy, ASHRAE will use its position as a recognized global leader in HVAC&R technologies and applications to develop and disseminate technical information, standards, educational programs and research on issues of social importance to promote building sustainability.

Sustainability Roadmap

ASHRAE's Sustainability Roadmap was approved by ASHRAE's Board of Directors in 2006. It guides the Society’s efforts in defining a leadership role in sustainability. The Roadmap identifies and quantifies ASHRAE’s sustainability impacts, beginning with the process of setting goals and continuing through implementing strategies for improving those impacts in the years ahead.

ASHRAE Vision 2020

ASHRAE’s vision, as articulated in this report, is that the building community will produce market- viable net zero energy buildings (NZEBs) by the year 2030.
